EasyLivingDose Wardrobe Essentials - Girls

Hello ladies!
Okay so, we all probably have a ton of clothes in our closets yet never seem to have anything to wear! It's what I call the self-imposed woman's curse. If like me you are suffering or have suffered from that curse, it might be because we miss out on knowing what are staples in our wardrobe and invest more on trends. These staples are a building block for every stylish girl's fashion freedom.

For any female fashionista above the university or college age, there are basic clothing pieces and accessories that you must own which makes dressing up effortless and these pieces are considered timeless. They never go out of season! When you understand this simple fact, you will learn to invest on them more than the seasonal items that will come and go. There's nothing I hate more than seeing someone else in a dress I own. :(

Now being a frugal girl myself, I have built a solid wardrobe from making basic clothing items myself to buying from thrift stores and occasionally going the designer route. There's no shame in that! You can do it too.

Here, we give you the essential wardrobe pieces that must feature in every fashionable girl's wardrobe as highly recommended by EasyLivingDose.

The Classic White Shirt
Forget that it is being used as a uniform for almost every church, school function.  The plain White T is a must-have.   We recommend getting a loose number which can function in multiple ways. Pair as loose number over a pair of skinny denim jeans, as a jacket over a cami for a laid back effect.

A pair of denim jeans
Denims are timeless pieces of clothing that has been around more than any of us can remember.  Denim is patterned to fit all body shapes and sizes and can be worn with blouses,  tanks, blazer and T-shirts for your everyday casual look. Get them in all cuts,  skinny, bootcut, wide leg etc.

A camisole/Tank tops
This has also been around forever and is considered timeless and comes in countless patterns and fabric. A silk cami goes hand in hand with a jacket and sweater for the perfect layering.

The Little Black Dress
This is the classic code for all evening attires. A fashionista without her little black dress is like a footballer without his team. The LBD is a must-have! Getting invited for an evening affair is inevitable so a lady must always be prepared.

The perfect A-line/Pencil/High Wasted Skirt
It's without a doubt that the skirts were way in the scheme of things before the era of women doning trousers.  Skirts are flattering to say the least.  They give a girl the i-got-ample-curve illusion.

Maxi Dress/Sun dress/Maxi Skirt/ Palazzo Pants
Maxis are timeless effortless pieces of clothing that speaks the comfort language to a T. It's breezy and light flowy feel keeps you on your toes and adds a dash of sophistication to your dressed up persona.

Blazer/Cardigan/Sweater/Jacket
You need to have at least one of each of these staples. My love for this item of clothing is limitless.  The simplest outfit can be made to look classy and presentable by throwing on a pair of Blazer. It has that  Ta Da effect.

A denim jacket/chambray shirt
Whenever a theme says casual, a denim is involved. Chambray shirts and the denim jacket are effortless way to style a simple outfit. You can leave it unbuttoned as a cardigan or wear it as a shirt.

Comfortable Bra and Underwear
At this point in your adult life,  investing in pairs of bra and underwear is a necessity.

Accessories:

Handbags
These come in different styles and patterns. Invest in a tote bag, oversized bag and at least one Clutch for more formal occasions.

Belts
We've seen this around from season to season. Belt cinched over a loose dress, gives the illusion of a fuller swaying figure.

Jewellery
Invest in statement necklaces for more formal settings. Simple necklaces for your casual looks.

Shoes
Ballet flats in different cuts and colors for your comfortable style.
Sandals for dressy occasions.
Boots depending on where you live and weather.
Stiletto heels for dressed up days and evenings.
A pair of comfortable sneakers for a dressed down look.

Brooch for extra pizazz on classy occasions.

Flip flops for beach runs.

Bikini top and bottom for your breach life.

A carrier bag for moving around.

A sun hat for UV protection.

A pair of sunglasses for protecting your eyes.

Shawls and scarfs for extra pizazz on a n otherwise simple outfit.

More tips:
These might seem alarming at first, but it's easy to get them all within your budget.
  • Go to stores with end of season sales. Easier to get bargains at the time.
  • Always buy clothes that are a size bigger
  • Buy clothes that will last a lifetime.
  • Go to thrift stores. There are several all around Lagos. Don't be afraid to go into second hand stores. You can always say it's vintage if anyone asks.
  • Only buy things you need and would absolutely wear.
Well goodluck as you go and rejuvenate your wardrobe.  Thank us later.

Catch up soon,
Xoxo
